The anticipation to watch the incredible NUTCRACKER is literally killing my little girl. She has been waiting for weeks to see this show. And its extra special because its the 10th Anniversary Production of Goh Ballet Nutrcracker at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

We had an amazing opportunity to go behind the scenes rehearsal session and it was awesome. And cannot wait for the OPENING NIGHT this Friday December 21. Not only is it Goh Ballet's 10th Anniversary of the Nutcracker, but it is also our first time going to the ballet so it's a very special time for our little family.

Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker announces stars of American Ballet Theatre for the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier Prince. Devon Teuscher and Alexandre Hammoudi will headline these iconic roles making their debut performances in Vancouver.

These two powerhouse dancers Devon Teuscher has been with the American Ballet Theatre for 8 years and was appointed Principal dancer in 2017 which is a huge achievement. Alexandre Hammoudi has an incredible background studying in the Paris Opera Ballet and at the young age of 16 years old, became the member of the National Ballet of Cuba. He later joined the American Ballet Theatre as a member in 2004 and appointed to a Soloist in 2012.

This incredible show will have a cast of over 250 dancers that represent Vancouver’s top performing artists. The local and international cast will perform to choreography set by Emmy award winner and Canadian choreographer Anna-Marie Holmes. Members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra will provide live musical accompaniment for each performance.

During the rehearsal we got a little taste of the magic of the Nutcracker. We all got swept into the story, the movements of the dancers, their facial expressions and body language told the story without any words. We can definitely see why thousands of families in the Lower Mainland return time and again to see this incredible production, some even making this a family tradition to see this amazing production every time the Holiday season rolls around.
