All Things Jamaica

We’ve been to Jamaica a few times, but this was the kiddos first experience. And we decided to stay at a family-friendly resort and so glad we did. We’re sharing with you a few amazing family-friendly resorts and fun adventures to experience while visiting.

I’ll be sharing a few all-inclusive resorts. And trust me you’ll love these resorts. I’m only sharing resorts in Negril since it’s the only ones I’ve stayed at since our family is based in Negril, but I’ve heard resorts in Montego Bay are pretty incredible as well.

First up is Beaches Negril Resort and Spa-

Did you know that Beaches partnered with Sesame Street and they offer Muppet-led activities for kids. This resort comes with a huge water park, beach waterfront, supervised kids club (a great option if parents want to get away for a few hours), and the best feature they have a Kid’s buffet (how cool is that) this buffet features grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, waffles, and French fries at all three meals. Even the a la carte restaurants offer kids' menus. But things to keep in mind, the bathrooms only have shower/tub combos, cabanas are an extra cost, restaurants do require reservations (so book ahead) and room service is only included for Butler-category rooms.

P.S. After some research of resorts in other parts of Jamaica. Beaches Ocho Rios Resort and Golf Club offer an Xbox Garage (my kids would freak if they heard this) it also has a camp Sesame Street, a water park, and babysitting services.

The second Resort is the first spot we stayed at during our trip. I was pleasantly surprised by this resort. As it was a last-minute trip not many resorts were available especially for a family of 5. So this resort was the only one available, but it was so nice. This mid-range priced resort is also in Negril. Check out Coco LePalm SeaSide resort if you're looking for a family-friendly resort. This resort offers free continental breakfast, they feature two pools (one just for adults and one for families), the onsite restaurant had the most delicious meals. My kids loved the whole kids' menu, they tried everything and my oldest was obsessed with the chicken alfredo pasta. But some things to keep in mind, it's not an all-inclusive resort and some of the rooms are dated as the resort is currently doing renovations on their suites. While we stayed we did hear some renovations but they did keep the noise to a minimum and only a few hours during the day. But I will say the staff was all incredible and we loved our housekeeper, she always made sure to leave extra special things for the kiddos.

The third resort is the one we usually stay in (pre-kids) but it's a family-friendly place. The Riu Palace Tropical Bay Hotel is located in Negril. This hotel is absolutely stunning and it’s a 24 hr all-inclusive Hotel (which means 24 hr service- pretty awesome especially for families if you do run into an emergency like we did… running out of diapers). Some features in the hotel include a minibar, free wifi throughout the property, beachfront within minutes of your suite, 3 swimming pools, a main and a themed restaurant, and the best part a wellness center.

We were gonna stop at three but had to include a bonus resort. The Royalton in Negril is pretty nice as well. This beautiful resort is an all-inclusive resort featuring a full-service spa. And get this, this is the only resort in Jamaica to feature 8 (yes you read that right) 8 restaurants to choose from. This resort also features 24 hr room service, free wifi throughout the property, 4 outdoor pools (this includes the children’s pool), free children’s club, daily housekeeping, and dry cleaning service.

And now onto the fun adventures, you can experience while in Jamaica. Besides all the cool things you can do on the resort property such as parasailing, jet-skiing, etc. You can also book fun things to do in jamaica. Below we’ll share some of our favourites

Push Kart Adventure (at Jamwest Motorsports & Adventure Park)

This adventure park is such a fun place to take your kiddos, but keep in mind it's for children 5 and up. The best part Push Kart Adventure pick and drop off from hotels in Negril (30-90 before tour time in an air-conditioned vehicle), you’ll have access to mineral bath on the property after the tour, access to Rock Climbing, Bird Aviary, Pool & Waterslide after the tour.

Guided Dunn’s River Falls Tour

During this fun adventure, you’ll receive return transportation back to your resort. Children 8 and older are allowed on tour. You must be able to climb/descend stairs and walk on unpaved/uneven terrain. Please keep in mind that if you’re pregnant you should not take part in this adventure. There is also hotel pickup available in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Grand Palladium, and Runaway Bay hotels.

Dolphin Encounter in Dolphin Cove Montego Bay

This adventure is a 30-minute session including kissing and touching the dolphins. During this excursion, you will get to pet stingrays and camels, an in-depth orientation, and educational commentary. But please do keep in mind that there is no food/drinks allowed during the session, cameras or professional photos during the session are not permitted as well. And there is no transportation to and from your resort (you will need to do this). Children 5 and younger are not allowed. Children 6 and older must be accompanied by a paying adult who is 18 or older. And there is a 30-minute check-in prior to your booked tour start time.

We'll be sharing some travelling info in the next upcoming blog posts, so be on the lookout for more info. Thanks so much for checking out our post. Couldn't do this without you all.
